Anchor House of Artists, 518 Pleasant St.

Picture
Held over until January 22, Michael Tillyer is featured in Gallery One and Two with life-sized wooden sculpture including the Apple Orchard Band and several other painted wood figures (pictured above).

In Gallery Three, Amy Johnquest presents Birth Wheel, a wildly colored, exquisitely hand-painted carnivalesque fortune wheel that, with a spin, asks us to consider an alternate birth origin story, a "what if I was born..." thing.

Charles Miller is represented in the museum wing with large, black and white oil paintings depicting local jazz luminaries his was associated with in the 90s. At 90 years old, Miller will be featured each month this year with a different show of artwork he accomplished over his career.

Jonathan Stark is featured with elegant modern artwork.

A reception will be held on January 14, 2022, from 6-8pm.

Hirsch (Golden Bird herself!) has been delighting little people and their caregivers with original songs, stories, and imaginative adventures in New York City and the Connecticut River Valley for years. She is excited to bring her magical box of puppets and surprises, her ukulele and kazoo, and her high energy interactive songs and stories to 33 Hawley on January 14 for Arts Night Out. This will also be the final chance to shop for NCFA Art Cards until the fall!

Nature's Palette by Paul Hetzel /
The Svalbard Archipelago by Rhea Banker
Hosmer Gallery at Forbes Library, 20 West St.

Picture
Rhea Banker’s work (pictured above) is based on ancient movements recorded within the Earth’s crust. During this time of climate upheaval, she has focused particularly on the changing far edges of the Arctic landscape.
Recently she participated in an art residency in the Svalbard Archipelago, 10 degrees below the North Pole. Her images respond to the deep connections she experiences between stone, sea, and ice.

Paul Hetzel’s photographs (pictured below) explore rock formations in Nevada’s Valley of Fire, which derives its name from red sandstone formations which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. “The grand masters created magnificent works of art utilizing their brush strokes and color palette. My intention with this exhibit is to display a collection of magnificent colorful creations fashioned by Nature’s Palette.
